Chakra Tools: Gemstones

Gemstones aren't just a pretty face!

Sure they're pretty to look at, but the ability of gemstones to conduct and transform energy is becoming increasingly recognised in terms of health applications.

Formed over eons, often at high pressure within the earth, gemstones embody intense concentrations of energy. The subsequent energetic and physical properties of gemstones resonate with different parts of the body's energy fields (depending on their origin). They also have different therapeutic properties depending on their size, shape, exact composition and even the skill of the person holding it.

I love working with gemstones, so much so that seven different crystal balls feature in my children's book, Selena's Crystal Balls, A Magical Journey Through the Chakras

The crystal balls are all the colours of the rainbow, and we look at one ball per page. I love the illustrations and that feeling of "I want to fall into that scene" when I look at them. Children love the illustrations too -- they always reach out and touch the page as if they were touching a real crystal ball.

When working with crystals myself, I prefer to work with intuition and 'listen' to which particular gemstones I am drawn to when near them. There are many, many gem therapy protocols that have been developed (a lot of them using spheres), but you might choose to garner benefits by wearing appropriate gemstones around your neck, on your wrists, or by carrying them in your pockets.

Or, of course, you could always adorn your coffee tables, kitchen benches, work spaces and bedside tables with lots of crystal chips, ornaments or balls!
